Hauerwas Recommendations?

I’d like to read some Stanley Hauerwas, never having done so before. Do you have a favorite book of his to recommend?

    Hey Pat,

I would start with "Resident Aliens." Its probably the most well-known and accessible of his books. If you want, I can email you a paper I wrote on the difference between Hauerwas and Yoder and their understanding of the mission of the church.

I hope your trip is going well–sorry to hear about your ankle. There can be worse things than hobbling around Istanbul.

Thanks, Spud! I'd love to read the paper too.

And you're right, Istanbul isnt a bad place to be stuck with a busted ankle. Though, it's tantalizing how much history is just out of hobbling distance. Sigh.

I'd second the recommendation of RESIDENT ALIENS…
and if you want to read more after that, I'd move on to A BETTER HOPE: RESOURCES FOR A CHURCH CONFRONTING CAPITALISM, DEMOCRACY AND POSTMODERNITY.
