A week from now I’ll be out of Internet range at my family’s home in Trout Creek, Montana for a week’s vacation. After the past year’s sprint at work, and especially the past few months, it will be great to have some down time and be away form technology.
I’m thinking about the books I want to take with me. This is always an important question for me – book junkie that I am. Given that in a couple of days I’ll be done with my current project paper and will need to start reading for my next class (Following the Orthodox Trail).
But I think I’m settling down to two choices. A week ahead of the trip, that may change, but I think I’ll take these with me:
And, since I should start getting a head start on my Orthodox Christianity reading, I’ll bring this along too. But, I probably won’t read it, taking a bit of a homework hiatus.

I hope that my family spends most of its time walking and talking, canoeing, rafting, bicycling, building fire pits, exploring the barn, playing catch, finishing, and looking at the stars. But I’ve gotta bring books too, or else I won’t feel complete :-)
Those are some good reads right there. Of course, if it were me, I would be bringing 7 books, and only read half of one…but I think we've discussed this before.
Yeah, I am normally in that mode. I kinda feel like I need to take it easy this time though, or my wife will kill me dead. So will my kids. My son has learned to put his hands on my cheeks to gently move my face away from my book to his face now – which is either cute, or damning to me. You decide.
