Sign from God that it’s time to buy a Utilikilt

I’ve been a fan of Utilikilts for a while now, but especially after a trip through Scotland I think it’s only a matter of time until I find the money to buy one. I was enjoying the Mock-U-Mercials on the Utilikilts website (fun filmmaking and great underground advertising in any case), then stumbled onto the Guestbook.

That included this comment made on Aug 15 – just a couple of weeks ago:

I am a Benedictine Monk at a Catholic Monastery in Oregon. I am a Scot by heritage and I love wearing my kilt everywhere and even under my monastic garment.

- Ephrem Thurman, Mt. Angel, Or.

That, dear readers, would e the same Brother Ephrem who I met this spring at an individual retreat at Mt. Angel Abbey. I blogged about that weekend here.

So if Brother Ephrem wears a Utilikilt under his monastic habit, I think that’s a pretty good endorsement for Utilikilts.

A certain photographer friend of mine loves his Utilikilt… though I suspect he takes a lot of abuse from his friends.

Hey, that's ME! You know, I don't get as much abuse as I thought I would. I've been oddly comfortable since day one in this thing. In fact I bought mine in Seattle, wore it out of the store and rarely take it off (except now that winter's here again – a wee bit chilly in the nethers).
