One of the arguments of our new book,The Blue Parakeet, is that any church that calls itself biblical must permit women to do now what they did in the New Testament, and that includes prophesying, teaching, praying and founding churches.
"Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others". The Edubuntu Linux distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to schools, through its customised school environment. The current version of Edubuntu is aimed at classroom use, and future versions of Edubuntu will expand to other educational usage, such as university use.
If you’re a conservative Christian and you’re worried about sex, then do something about human trafficking. If you’re a liberal Christian and you’re worried about the ongoing relevance of your faith, then take a stand against excessive consumerism. If you’re a non-Christian but interested in Christian contemplation, then at least recognize that contemplative spirituality demands that people come before either things or money or ideology. I'm studying spiritual formation in an Internet-based world. I'm trying to learn from early Christian spirituality's monastic movements: the desert fathers and mothers, Benedictines, Celts, Fransciscans and others, in order to see how they ordered their values and actions to be fully devoted to God's work. Their total devotion to the presence of God was countercultural, that can show us what it means to be countercultural in our wholehearted devotion to God in contemporary culture.
