Is it just me…or is this one of the only bands which has called us to tranformational living over a period of _decades._
I continue to try and determine how to move my faith from an etheral mind-game, to a flesh-and-blood reality. Right now I do little other than make donations, read up on heartaches, and look Look LOOK for the opportunity to extend the loving hand of Jesus into the world. (or Buddah, or Gahndi, or Mother Theresa, or anyone who embodies LOVE) But those opportunities seems so few. Will more come to me? Should I make more? How? Which ones? Where? (I’m nearly 40, shouldn’t I know these things by now?)
Just when I’m ready to let the questions and the seeking settle into the back of my mind, something like this video brings them back into my determined forefront. And if not a song like this one, then Jen Lemen’s loves (jenlemen.com)…or Mike Todd’s steady march into change (miketodd.typepad.com/waving_or_drowning).
If we keep trying, will it be enough?
I think that keeping-trying is the only thing we can do. You know Eugene’s title, right – “a long obedience in the same direction”, that one I need to remind myself of a lot.
It is interesting paying attention to the themes of our lives, isn’t it? Hanging with Jack from Nairobi this week and hearing his stories works strongly on my heart, and seeing that song mathes, and seeig old friends does too. The Sacred3 are up to something, it’s gonna be fun to see what.
